Currently Reading: Born To Run

Born to Run.jpg

I am currently reading “Born to Run” by Christopher McDougall. The book tells the true story of a variety of elite level runners and their participation in the world’s most epic 100 mile running race. The author is a self proclaimed struggling runner who sets off on a quest to discover the secret behind great running and what all of these amazing athletes have in common.

This book is not a typical runner’s guide. Rather, the book is a well woven story about the runners and their various backgrounds. All of these runners come from extremely different walks of life but the story shares their common goal of winning this grueling 100 mile race filled with treacherous terrain and conditions.

With the backdrop of the Copper Canyons in Mexico, this book describes the beautiful balance between man and nature. As I am reading about the Tarahumara tribes of legendary runners, the book reminds me of a sports memoir as if Indiana Jones himself wrote it.

I am about half way through the book already, I just can’t seem to put it down! As soon as I finish the book, I will post a review up on the blog.

Till then, Happy Reading!

PS. Why do I have the feeling that I’ll be signing up for an Ultra race after finishing this book?
