Author: Angela Dimayuga and Ligaya Mishan
Genre: Cookbook
Blogger’s Note: Thank you to Abrams Books for the gifted copy of this cookbook through the Abrams Dinner Party Program!
With colorful images and flavorful dishes, this cookbook brings Filipino foods into the hands of home cooks everywhere. The author’s story of her upbringing and journey into her life as a chef is extremely interesting and the perfect start to this cookbook!
Most narratives in cookbooks are somewhat boring and bland (even if the food portion isn’t!) However I genuinely enjoyed reading about the author’s backstory and her experience with her own culture. She included wonderful moments like cooking with her mother or tasting specific dishes for the first time which were insightful and endearing.
I haven’t eaten much of this type of food, so I was super excited to receive this copy in the mail. My husband does most of the cooking in our house. Wait…let me rephrase… my husband does 99 percent of the cooking. We are going to thumb through this book together this week and then bring some much needed diversity into our cooking!
Wishing everyone a great week filled with new flavors and exciting meals shared with loved ones!
Happy Reading! (and Eating!)
