While vacationing in Southwest Florida, my husband and I came across Chocolattes Coffee and Roasting. This independent coffee roaster located in Fort Myers, also offers a cafe style atmosphere with a menu featuring their roasted beans. A great cup of coffee is not always easy to find, so when we saw that the location roasted their own beans… we figured this would be a great place to try.
Their craft coffee and roast house business sits in a pretty basic strip mall with very little curb appeal. However, you can’t judge a book by its cover… right? We walked in and the owner was in the back roasting coffee beans. There is a long coffee bar complete with espresso machine, set ups for drip coffee, pour overs etc. The menu was long and everything sounded good.
I settled on a breve which is a latte with steamed half and half rather than milk. Chocolattes also offered several baked items including biscotti made in house. I opted for the coconut biscotti as well as the red velvet biscotti. My husband ordered this delicious looking cinnamon roll. Blog research is going to take a toll on my waistline, but it is definitely worth it!
We sat at a long communal table which was next to an electric fireplace and enjoyed our coffee and conversation. It was nice to see others doing the same as well. The place seemed to invite people to linger and promoted dialogue between patrons. We enjoyed our coffee and our visit very much! They offer coffee tastings and roasting classes as well, so if you’re in the area and looking for some coffee this is a great option!
Recommendations: If you like your coffee on the sweeter side, try the Toffee Coffee. It is sweetened & creamy with whipped cream & cinnamon.
Not in a sugary mood? Then opt for a delicious pour over and enjoy the freshly roasted beans sans extra added flavors. Either way, this place won’t disappoint!
