Currently Reading: “Anna K: A Love Story”

I have just started the book, “Anna K” by Jenny Lee a week or two ago. The book is a retelling of the story of “Anna Karenina” and was released on March 3rd 2020. The book puts a current twist on the classic tale by using the backdrop of New York City and following a group of young teen socialites as they navigate their way into adulthood. With familiar themes of young love, betrayal and self-understanding, this book falls seems to be written for a typical young adult audience.

I picked up this one from the local library as an audiobook. I had been seeing the cover a lot through various social media channels and thought I should give it a try. I usually enjoy YA literature, so it wasn’t a huge stretch for me to opt for this particular book.

I am about halfway through it already and truth be told, it is dragging a little for me. It feels like the story is slow moving and I haven’t really been sold on any of the characters. They seem superficial and vapid with very little depth. I am hoping that the second half of the book is better than the first. A lot of people seem to like it, but it just hasn’t caught my reading interest yet. We’ll see soon enough! I’ll post the full book review when I am done.

Till then, Happy Reading!
