Weekend Reading

Finally, it’s the weekend! With some much appreciated down time in the near future, my plans of grandeur include plenty of reading and relaxing! I’ve recently received some bookmail, and I plan on getting into the new books this weekend. Check out the information below to see what’s on the docket.

Right now I am listening to an audiobook of “A Court of Wings and Ruin” by Sarah J. Maas. The book is number three in the “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series. I am about 30% into the book and it feels like a seamless continuation of book two. The series flows as one epic saga that just happens to come in the form of three installments. I have been completely lost in Maas’ storytelling and simple prose. The YA Fantasy genre was already one of my favorites, but this series is truly something special!

I also have started the physical book, “All Boys Aren’t Blue.” I have only read the introduction and the first few chapters, but it has already hooked me. The memoir/manifesto is written by a black gay man who details his life experience from childhood to adulthood. I feel drawn to the author’s writing. It is direct, clear and beautiful in its simplicity which shakes the traditional societal limitations and opts for a blunt narrative which I appreciate already.

I can’t wait to make some progress on these books, so it’s time to disconnect and get started.

Happy Reading!
