Book Mail: Vol. 1 Mother’s Day Edition

It is always exciting to look into the mailbox and see a package with your name on it! Since we’ve been staying home more than usual, I have been purchasing more books online and having them delivered rather than perusing our local bookstore. As a result, this past week there was a special delivery with four wonderful books that I can’t wait to share!

1. “The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse” by Charlie Mackesy

I picked this one up with my kiddos in mind. It is a children’s book of “modern fables exploring universal life lessons.” With beautiful illustrations and important truths about this world, I’ll be reading this one with my little ones. It promises to be a keepsake in our family for years to come!

2. “Untamed” by Glennon Doyle

This book came addressed to me but is actually a Mother’s Day gift for my sister-in-law. In the memoir, author Glennon Doyle talks about what it means to be “Untamed” in a world where women (and men alike) are forced into roles that do not suit them. The book is all about celebrating your true and authentic self. I selected this one in particular for my sister-in-law because she is a “goddamn cheetah” as Doyle puts it. She is loving and kind while remaining loyal to herself and the others around her. My sister never sacrifices her beliefs for convenience or acceptance and she embodies the message of this book which is personal awareness and appreciation for the things that make each person unique. (*A note for my sister-in-law: I love you! Happy Mother’s Day!)

3. “The Knockout Queen” by Rufi Thorpe

This one is another Book of the Month pick delivered this week! The book is a new Young Adult novel that covers the story of two polar opposite high school students trying to find their way in a obstacle filled world. Amazon notes that this book is “A dazzling and darkly comic novel of love, violence, and friendship in the California suburbs.” The reviews for this book have been great so far! This one is up next on my “To Be Read” list.

4. “Beach Read” by Emily Henry

I’ve already started this book from Book of the Month Club and I am absolutely loving it so far! I am about halfway through this book and it is flying! This book is a romantic comedy with hints of dramatic fiction as well. Click here to learn more about this wonderful book.

Book mail is always an exciting sight to see. I can’t wait to get started reading and enjoy this wonderful stack of literary fun!

Happy Reading!
